They reached Hogwarts with no trouble at all, besides gaping expressions upon everyone’s face. Jade was having trouble explaining things. She looked towards Harry and the gang and then at Draco. What was she going to do?

“Please, Jade? Can you run that through me again? I’m having trouble understanding.” Harry stuttered.

“Well, it’s really not that hard to comprehend. Draco and I were friends when we were younger; he and I would always play practically jokes on father and Uncle Malfoy.” She smiled and giggled.

The phrase “Uncle Malfoy” stretched the surprised looks on everyone’s face. They were walking towards the carriages when Jade confronted a dilemma. Should she ride with Draco or Harry?

“Jade, come on, the carriage isn’t going to wait any longer.” Ron was ushering her to hurry up but she decided to catch up with Draco instead.

“No worries Ron, I’ll see you guys at the castle!” She entered the carriage with Draco, leaving Harry, Hermione and Ron with mouths wide open.

-In Harry’s Carriage-

“Is Draco and her really friends? It’s unlikely for Jade, a sweet young girl, to be friends with the horrible little cockroach. Oh dear, this is quite a predicament.” Hermione was staring out the window; it was a clear evening, the moon as their nightlight. Ron and Harry just looked at the floor…the fact that Draco said “friends” was still a shocker to them.

“You two cheer up, Jade knows how to handle herself. She won’t do anything stupid whilst amongst the teachers in Hogwarts.” Hermione tried to reassure Harry and Ron.

“It’s not Jade I’m worried about; it’s Malfoy, what if he suddenly corrupts Jade!” Ron went into some mini frenzy, hitting he head on the carriage roof. They had stopped. All three of them stepped out of the carriage and looked at Hogwarts; their home.

At the corner of Harry’s eye, he spotted Jade looking at Hogwarts also, with Draco standing right next to her.

“Jade! Over here!” Ron hollered, making Hermione “shush” him. Jade came skipping along towards them, Draco still following.

“Isn’t it wonderful! I’m actually at Hogwarts, it’s giving me goose bumps just thinking about walking through that magnificent door.” Jade was ecstatic about this. She was in awe with everything she saw. Ron and Hermione were in awe that Harry and Draco tolerated each other’s presence for this long.

As they reached the main hall the upperclassmen started separated from the first years. That’s when Professor McGonagall came into view. She spotted Jade immediately and called her over.

“Ms. Riddle, even if you are starting at the fourth year level, you must be sorted into your house. Please follow the first years.” She pointed to the direction of children two feet smaller than she was and ushered the rest of the students into the hall. She saw Harry and Draco looking at her questionably so she mouthed out “sorting hat” and they nodded and looked at each other scornfully, they were off.

In line, Jade felt a weird feeling inside her. She started to sweat lightly, as if it were getting warmer and warmer while standing in that line. She started to breath heavily, not knowing what was going on, she started to panic. Why in the world was she nervous? It’s just a hat that tells you where you belong? Suddenly a piercing pain occurred in her head. Her fathers voice echoed…

“Jade, this is your turn to be sorted into a house. Lets see what happens.”

The pain went away, but Jade’s sweating and panting still continued. She found herself on the floor with Professor McGonagall at her side. “Are you alright my dear?” She said.

“Yes, yes. I’m fine. Is it my turn to be sorted yet?” She brushed off her shivers and went into the main hall where it went dead silent.

“Jade Riddle!” Professor McGonagall was already at the front of the hall, no surprise since she suddenly appears when there’s trouble. A few people gasped when they heard “Riddle.” As Jade walked by, she heard mumbles and whispers:

“Isn’t that you-know-who’s old last name?”

“Wasn’t Riddle the boy who almost killed Harry Potter?”

“Do you think she’s related to You-Know-Who?”

She started to get angry, if they really wanted to know, why not ask her herself! She clenched her fist and walked on by. Passing Harry, Ron and Hermione who gave her a thumbs up and Draco who just looked at her.

Professor McGonagall placed the ratty old had upon Jade’s head and there was silent. But to Jade, there was great noise.

“Ahhhhh! What is this blood-line! The blood running through your veins give me such freight…dear, dear. You-Know-Who’s descendant…what to do with you? I cannot stop thinking to put you in Slytherin. You will more or less become like your father…” When Jade heard that she stood up and ripped the sorting hat off her head and said,

“NO, I WON’T!”

The students were looking at her as if she was crazy. The Professors looked at her, she felt Dumbledore’s (who just appeared) eyes upon her. She must confess that the hat placed her in…

“Slytherin, ma`am.” She told Professor McGonagall the truth and she walked towards Draco who looked worried about. But not as worried as it made Harry, Hermione and Ron feel.
