7/8/06 Weekly Update - Blogring.net

Another week, another exciting round of changes as we continue to upgrade and improve blogring.net!

First off, I'm happy to report that in the past week, activity for the site has almost doubled, and continues to rise! This is across the board too, with activity booming across the site. And it will only get better, because we have even more improvements on the herizon.

Here is what was introduced this week:

Postsecret - Blogring officially launched it's Postsecret affiliation program, which is being handled by our moderator, Jenny (Penny Lane). Information about how you can get involved can be found here: http://www.blogring.net/index.php?showtopic=105096 .

Blogring on Myspace - We're currently beta testing and designing a dedicated Myspace page for BR. This page will allow us to more easily connect with our myspace users, and to bring in even more, by using the page both as a gateway for Blogring.net, and a showcase for our designers and content. Expect the page to be up within the week.

Mod Changes -

> Roman (Cyrano) is now a Global Moderator.
> Jamie Lynn (Jamie Lynn) is now a Discussion Forums Moderator, taking Roman's old position.
> Carolyn (Carolyn.) is now a Official Forums Moderator, taking Ivy's old position.
> Criss (Crysten Elaine) has been moved into the new position of Head Moderator, to facilitate the organisation of the staff and to keep things running smoother.
> One Global Moderator spot is still currently vacant.

Blogring Referral Program - The information for the current program can be found at: http://www.blogring.net/index.php?act=referral , however, we encourage you to begin using this system much more, to help build traffic, so we can rely less on search engine hits, which are making up the bulk of our new user contacts. This tactic, along with Myspace and a few other ways, will help us get out to the internet more and more, and reach more people, allowing our community to grow. And of course, that leads into...

Blogpoint Value Changes - The values for blogpoints and ways to earn them are vastly changing. Soon, you will recieve 5 blogpoints per every post, 20 per new topic, and 200 per accepted theme/skin submission. This is being done because very soon, there will be a lot more things to do with your blogpoints, so start earning now! Expect the changes to bps value to occur soon.

How soon? I'm glad you asked.

Most exciting of all, I would like to officially annouce the launching of Blogring.net Beta, which will be live in around one week or so. While programming is currently underway, I'll share with you a few details we have as of now, and of features that are already complete and are being tested:

1) During the change to this new skin, we can update the ipb software. BP's will most likely be reset, but this will be rendered null because of the new system being put in place.

2) Blogring Pets will be brought back. I'm sure very few of you remember this, but think of something along the lines of Neopets. But better, and less childish.

3) The bp system for layouts will be more advanced and it will be automated. Skin approval will be hidden and done privately by mods. Mods can browse themes and simply accept or reject them in one or two clicks. The automation will take care of formatting.

4) Every theme/skin will be worth 200bps. After 20 themes, members can become an Offical Designer.

5) We will have a page for the most active designers. Users will be able to browse by designer, instead of just skins now.

6) The blogring lottery/auction will be fixed. Members can also buy banner space at the bottom of a page for BPS.

7) With new incentives for spending and earning bps, staff will begin earning a "salary" for being in a mod position in the form of bps.

Granted, these are NOT the only changes, as the process is only partially complete. Much, much more will be added. The site overall will be improved drastically. The downtime when we bring the new system online should be very small. On the agenda as well are changes to the Constitution and rules, to allow more freedom and better reflect the ideals of blogring.net.

Just wondering, Is that what it actually says for the browsed skins(beta thing)? Or is it just made up for testing purposes? (Since info is messed up, like creators and types)
