Buddy List

You can now bookmark members to easily chat with, and connect to! You can edit your buddy list at: http://blogring.net/forum/profile.php?do=editlist

You also have an ignore list to block pesky members, edited at the same link. Note, you can't ignore mods or admins (Sorry guys. :>).

Calender!

Calenders are pretty sweet. Especially when you can use it to book official events and holidays on the site through your moderators. It also tells you what day it is.

Thread Tools

Every time you view a thread, you will notice a navigation bar on the top. Let's run through what all the options are for, to answer and possible questions.

Bear in mind, when posting, all the options available to you above the posting box. This allows a far greater level of control than our previous posting software, so take some time to get acquianted with all the options.

"LinkBacks" is the generalized term we use to reference three methods of communication between Websites:

• Trackbacks
• Pingbacks
• Refbacks

Why LinkBacks?

LinkBacks (Trackbacks, Pingbacks and Refbacks) allow you to notify another site that you wrote something related to what is written on a specific page. This improves the chances of contributors to this page noticing that you gave them credit for something, or that you improved upon something they wrote. With LinkBacks, websites are interconnected. Think of them as the equivalents of acknowledgments and references at the end of an academic paper, or a chapter in a textbook.


Linkbacks have long been a major force in the development of the blogging network, by creating an interconnected series of blogs and posts acknowledging one another. Not only does this improve the general community ethos throughout the "blog-o-sphere", but it also helps to make blogs into more powerful link-building tools.

Note: Links built via this method are highly relevant and do not carry the disadvantages typically associated with "link farms" or "link exchanges".
The LinkBack principle has migrated from blogs to other publishing platforms such as news content management systems and forums.



Thread Tools-



Thread tools allow you to access various options related to the thread, including:

1. Thread Emailing
2. Thread Print Version
3. Polling Options
4. Subscription Options

Keep in mind that Moderators also have easy moderation menus to manage individual threads through this feature.

Display Modes

Display modes control how you view page and thread content. Find what's best for you, and use it.

Rate Thread

Rate Thread allows any user to rate the quality and content of a thread, allowing you to save other members the trouble of viewing threads that are not worth your time, or are especially good.

In Myspace & Xanga forums, this allows you to rate the quality of themes and other modification content.

This feature allows you to index your Myspace/Xanga/Facebook/LJ/whatever in one directory, to give you more exposure on the internet, and with your fellow users. This feature is still being tweaked, so bear with us while we manage it.

Is it just me? If you go to the MySpace Codes and Scripts and click on any of the sub-forums, you get led to the Xanga Codes and Scripts.

Things look great. I like having the calendar, and even though I didn't expect for there for be a rating options for the threads, that sounds pretty nice as well.
