Okay, I may have threats on my life for saying this, but hey--it's my opinion.

I think that cutting is really stupid. That's the bottom line. The only reason people do it is because they're crying out for attention and help. It's a simple as this--if you've got problems, get help. And think about it, if you REALLY wanted to kill yourself, why would you slit your wrists when you could just cut your jugular.

The biggest thing that annoys me about kids cutting themselves today is that people take it as a fad. Today, emo has become a lot more mainstream and a lot more people have started cutting themselves because they think that it's the cool thing to do. Because of the stupid emo bands, it's now cool to be sad and angsty. Seriously, if you xanga surf through the sites of emo kids, a lot of people take pictures of hte designs that they carve into their arms....and in their comments, people say things like "Oh that's so cool!"

So, pretty much, I think it's stupid...or at least the way people take it as a fad these days.

Never have. I have considered it but everytime I chickened out because I'm too scared to hurt myself. I guess that's a good thing...

Good job with trying to stop cutting yourself! I support you 100%!

That's about the most ignorant things I've ever heard.

If you think cutting is stupid, then ignore it. No one asked you what you thought of it.

It's not always for attention. I used to do it, I think I would know. I did it because it made me forget my emotional pain. As much as that doesn't make sense to anyone who doesn't do it, well, that's pretty much why. I always did my best to cover it, no one really noticed. Only one of my best friends have, when I was at her house & we were going to bed & I was taking off my bracelet. I quickly covered it up but she said something about a week later. She didn't seem too concerned. But I felt guilty because later on she did it too, after her boyfriend broke up with her. I felt like I was the one to blame.

Not everyone can get help. It isn't as easy as it sounds. Maybe you have the money to go to a doctor or have someone you can talk to, but I sure as hell didn't have either one. I still do it sometimes, honestly. Well, now it's more like a scratch than a deep cut so it isn't very noticable.

Isn't it a little insensitive to tell people to go to cut their jugular? Some people really have problems. Just because your life is **bleep** perfect doesn't mean everyone's just making everything up or whatever you're trying to get at. People like you seriously sicken me.

However, if you're doing it for that reason.. I'll agree. Those people should go cut their juglars.

I will agree that the emo fad today has made it so that cutting makes you "cool".
It's not "stupid" that some people cut. Everyone thinks differently, so we all have a different view on the subject.

I used to cut because it took my mind of everything else. When I got angry, I couldn't break the things around me, so I took it out on myself.

As twin__cinema, not all of us can afford therapy to help us with our problems. I sure as hell can't. I had to learn how to control my anger by myself. Not the most efficient way, but I've managed to stop cutting myself.

To me, some people cut and it helps them mask whatever they're feeling inside. Kind of how many teens wear heavy make-up to hide their true beauty.

As for the emo kids who cut designs on themselves and think "I'm cool", then just let them think that. When they grow older, their scars are still gonna be there. They might regret it, but they should have thought about the consequences before the cut themselves. Then you can call them stupid all you want.

Cutting itself isn't stupid, but making it a fad is.

twin__cinema, you should calm down slightly, people are allowed to post their opinions here. If you don't like the way the think, then talk to them about it. Or, for the ignorant people in the world, IGNORE IT.

Curiosity . . .

I wish you could see the misery you give me. . .

I used to "punish" myself by using my nails and digging them into my skin really hard or pinching on sensitive skin but I just used to do it on the areas that nobody at school in the gym lockers could see. I don't do it anymore though because my life was pretty sh.tty back then. Now it's still not fcuking perfect or anything but improved tremendously.

There are a lot of people in my school that cut themselves, for what reason I do not know because I'm not that brave to ask. Besides, it's really none of my business unless one of my friends begin to do that.

When you cause physical pain to your body either by cutting, over-dosing, or any other bad sh.t isn't asking for attention because I agree with what Jamie L. said. When you hurt yourself it's mostly because you're so d.mn numb to what is going on that the only way to remind yourself that you're still fcuking living is to penatrate into your body somehow to wake yourself up.

I agree! I considered it, but I don't think I could ever manage to hurt myself, unless it was by accident.

I support you 100% also. Good Luck =)

Jamie, sorry, but I do have to say that other people are entitiled to their opinions as you are.

Anyways, I never cut myself, but I used to scratch myself with tacks until I bled. But that's in the past.
