Jim Butcher is my hero in print. His characters have a certain appeal to them that also applies to me, including their sarcastic mannerisms and dialogue. Aside from being able to relate to them so well, I just like Butcher's writing style.

His writing is very ... simplistic, but he uses all these metaphors and motifs and symbols that you have to watch out for. His work leaves an impact, that's for sure. I'm going to go out and buy a couple more of his books over the weekend. XD
I like Harry Potter for the storyline and themes and everything, but, in all honesty, I've come to realize that JKR isn't a spectacular writer. There are so many others to choose from that have a stronger grasp of syntax and diction and symbolism and figurative language and themes.
That being said, Ray Bradbury.
And Robert Penn Warren.

Darren Shan and Lois Duncan.
Both of these authors have a distinctive way of writing and I love it. Darren Shan is one of those author's whose books never loose their magic. You can read them over and over again and you'll never get bored.
Lois Duncan has a way of keeping you interested in her book. She hooks you from the very first word and keeps you begging for more until the very end.
