What types of books are you assigned to read in school, or over your summer vacation?
Do you enjoy them? Why or why not? Would you rather have picked other books? Do they always follow a theme? What type of assignments usually follow? ![]() G O N E.

My school is usually pretty good about assigning books to read.
The let us read Freakonomics. Would I like to have picked better books? Yes, but everyone has their own reading styles. lol Shoshana, yes you do! You SO need a book to tell you what to read. You can't even decide what flavor soda you want! ![]()
http://www.boomspeed.com/kittygardens/bps.gif http://www.boomspeed.com/kittygardens/xanga.gif I make buttons, banners, neopets stuff, avatars, etc. Contact me with the buttons \/ for one!
|

I know, I'm pretty sure you meantioned you were into sci-fi before, Criss. My school deals mainly with literature, too. I'm more of a contemporary reader, but we do a lot of English literature. Which I'm not too big a fan of. <_< ![]() G O N E.

I always manage to find a way to like a book assigned to me, in one way or another. Maybe that's just because I tend to look at every single aspect of the book. The last novel I was assigned? Reading Lolita in Tehran. It droned on and on, but the allusions to other literature and just the way Nafisi thinks made me like it. The year before that, I read Cold Sassy Tree. It was a simple read, but it provided another take on funerals that I really enjoyed. To Kill A Mockingbird before that. It's beginning was absolutely horrible and I could not get into it, but it got a lot better and the morals within the novel were brilliant.
Of course, I enjoy literature. I love novels that have a strong theme to them, because the authors bring up a point that I never would have thought about in my entire life and I feel like I've actually accomplished something in reading the novel other than just enjoying it. Did anyone have to read Life Of Pi? Or Of Mice and Men? Both amazing books. ![]() ▫▪ dulce et decorum est pro patria mori ▫▪ |
