Do Parents Have The Right?

Of course, they have a right. As a parent, it's their duty to protect their children and make sure they're not doing anything harmful or illegal.

However, in cases like mine, where my mom had no cause and did it just because she could, I think it's not the right thing to do. Technically, you can't do anything about it in that situation, but that's just another example of bad parenting.

You answered they do, but then again they don't. You didn't pick a side, you just stayed in the middle giving pros and cons

If there is reason enough proof, maybe you were a suspect in a homicide, then yes, they should be allowed. If just to satisfy their natural instinct to worry, and depending on the age of the child, then no, the child's privacy must be respected.

yes, because you live under their roof. if they're searching your stuff, it means they care. but if you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about. but then again, if you have nothing to hide, chances are your parents wouldn't be going through your stuff. it might seem like they're violating your privacy, but it's your mainly your fault that your parents are doing that. or your parents could be paranoid and overprotective.

I think they do have the right to do that until you're 18. Some parents do over-do it though and search their children's things religiously even though they may not have any reason to distrust their child. My mom never really looked through my things so I guess I was lucky but then again I never really had anything to hide.

i think parents have the right to do that though because like many have said before they did buy everything and also it will help prevent suicide, drug use etc. Maybe even school shootings or violence relating to gun use because the parents could discover it.
