The most incredible feeling
Weddings all seem pretty normal don't they? I mean, apart from the big/small gatherings of family and friends, not to mention all the wonderful presents you get. But in the end, it's supposed to be 'one of the most wonderful moments in a woman's life'. I must say, I agree with that statement verily.
I've been to weddings as family, friends and even a bridesmaid once, and I've never really understood why people and the bride too, cries when the vows are exchanged. But now, I think I do.
My wedding was the most wonderful experience I've ever had. I couldn't believe how wonderful things were going. All the guests were here, I had a loving soon-to-be-husband, all the presents. It was awesome!
I was getting the pre-wedding jitters that everyone 'apparently' gets before their wedding, but at the same time, I was really excited. I had wonderful friends who helped me put on a light amount of make up on, light, shimmery brown eyeshadow, light outline of my eyes with eye liner, lip gloss. We decided on having my curly auburn locks halfway pinned up with some decorative flowers scattered in it. Everyone assured me that I looked like a fairy tale princess.
My dad finally came to walk me down the aisle. He assured me one last time that Roy was waiting for me at the end. He also assured me that if Roy ever hurt me, I would have to go straight to daddy and tell him, so he could hurt Roy for me. I laughed and gave him a kiss on the cheek, assuring him that Roy would never hurt me. We were too much in love.
So my dad walked me down the aisle, to my husband who was staring at me with his mouth almost hanging to the ground. I smiled at him and he shut it, smiling back. He grabbed my hand and held it as tightly as I held his. I wasn't really concentrating on the priest. I was too busy drowning in Roy's brown eyes.
As if I was underwater, I could see Roy saying "I do." I knew it would be my turn soon. Sure enough, the priest said a minute later "...to be your lawfully wedded husband?" I choked out "I do." All the love that was in me was threatening to spill out.
After what seemed like ages, which was in fact seconds, the priest said "I now pronounce you man and wife. May you love endure forever. You may kiss the bride." I instantly looked towards him and fully made out with him in front of our parents and peers. When we came out of the kiss, we could hear the cheers and wolf-whistles they were giving us.
I realized in that moment, that love was what made me feel so warm, safe and protected around my family, my friends and most of all, Roy. Love can be a wonderful thing. And it is the most incredible thing I've ever seen or felt.
