What attribute would you prefer the most in a new friend? Rate these in order of importance, and explain why.
Intelligence.
Kindness.
Similar beliefs.
Openmindedness.
Modesty.
Sense of humour.
Similar interests.
Honesty.
Confidence.
Outgoingness.
Ambition/ Goals.
My list:
1) Intelligence.
As much as I love friendly people, I really couldn't befriend an unintelligent person. It's a terrible thing to admit, but I get bored so easily by people, so I require interesting and intelligent conversation to stimulate me. All of the other attributes are also needed for a strong friendship, but intelligence comes first, in my opinion.
2) Kindness.
However, you simply can't be just intelligent to win my friendship. I like kind and friendly people. If you're cold and distant, no matter how intelligent you are, a friendship just isn't possible.
3) Similar interests. I like many things, but there are even more things I despise. If you only like celebrities, movies, and music, what would we ever talk about? You would only bore and irritate me. Similar interests is a very important attribute, I think most people can agree on.
4) Similar beliefs.
As accused by Mic many months ago, I'm quite an elitist. I don't really mesh well with people who have different beliefs. I'm not saying you can't believe something different, but I'm just so stubborn and set in my beliefs that I'm appalled when I find people who think differently. Ah, such hypocrisy. But aren't we all victims of that?
5) Openmindedness.
That goes hand-and-hand with intelligence, in my opinion.
6) Sense of humour.
If you can make me laugh, I will love you forever. I do so enjoy laughing.
7) Honesty.
What friendship works without honesty?
8) Ambition/ goals..
I'm a very ambitious and determined person, but I get held back easily sometimes. I tend to enjoy friends who are the same way as I, which encourages me to be successful even more.
9) Confidence.
I like confident people. They just.. appeal to me. Nothing really explainable.
10) Outgoingness.
If somebody is too shy, however do you get to know him/her?
11) Modesty.
It's not that important to me, but nobody enjoys people who are too arrogant!
