Modern Age of Innocence

The content is basic,
but it'd make MUCH more sense
if you've read Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton.
Any constructive criticism is openly welcome.

Modern Age of Innocence

No one's story is original.
My name isn't Newland Archer
nor is yours Ellen Olenska.
The sexes change
but the story's the same.
I belong to my May
but long for you.

No fairytale happens in real life.
Maybe their tragedy is
not to be replicated.
The ending will be different
but a heartbreak will ensue.
I choose May now
but would rather choose you.

When I saw your name I thought, "OHRLY?"

Surprised to see a post by you.

Hmm. Letting this kind of sit in my mind, this reminds me of something I read in my Lit. class.

The ending will be different

It was a few stories revolving around the same people, but different plots, though eventually it goes back to A) They get married and die, or something of the sort.

I get a very bittersweet sense from this, sort of like Edith's other story, Ethan Frome. I'm guessing the gist of it is the same--doomed love and whatnot.

A short poem but sweet.

Pretty much, and I love how you could understand it. <3

I know, it's been insanely too long since I've been here. I guess when I got busy, I forgot some of my past loves. But I'm back and I've got more poems and short stories, haha. [:

Hehe. It's nice to see you around; I've been missing from this place for a while too. Just came back to visit today, and what do you know?

Nice little coincidence isn't it?

haha, i would say so.
That's pretty crazy that we'd happen to pass by on the same day.
I miss the old days when all of us were on like, everyday. Hahaha.

I stopped going here because the layout confused me. I just never got back into the motion and habit.
I miss the lot of us playing in this forum.

Hm. The layout doesn't seem so bad, but I agree. It was nice checking the forums and seeing it buzzing with new posts.

Now all I see are my own posts o_O
