I'm actually takin German 3 this year (but i speak some japanese too ^^) I learn best by notecards repeated like crazy..i use this on SAT words too. Also, I like my class and teacher, so I have a good attitude towards it, and that seems to help me tons. Also, its fun to get a friend to help you too. I also try to think of something the word sounds like and relate it to that (i cant think of one off the top of my head, i mainly use that for SAT) hope it helps!

Learning lauguages is not very difficult for me, I'm born with the skills. But one very important thing is that you need to get yourselves interested and concentrated. Listen to the lessons really carefully, take notes and read them thoroughly before quizzes, and you'll be fine. (If you have time, try reading the dictionary, maybe 5-10 words a day. You might not remember every single thing but it's really good for you.)

I usually use notecards. Spanish can be hard sometimes.

Spanish comes naturally easy compared to any other language, some of the words have common spelling with english words, but most of the time, there really isnt a trick to learning languages, its mostly about memorizing then applying it...(ex: watching spanish speaking channels or hang around spanish speakers)...that is how I learned Spanish.

definitely. i'm in spanish 3 this year, and my listening skills are HORRIBLE, so i watch stuff on Univision or Telemundo (not the news - they talk too fast for me) sometimes...
but spanish has a buttload of cognates, so it's not that hard to learn. plus, if you're not a good speller, spanish words are usually spelled phonetically (how they sound).

but for learning languages in general, the best way to really learn it is to find a way to use it! when i have a lot of free time on my hands, i write notes to my friends in spanish.

A little shameless plug never hurts: Mella (my xanga)

Yeah, I think the key is to find a way to use it. Because if you don't use it, then how will you learn and remember stuff? Its better to experience something and to do something rather than watch a movie or read a book about something. Same with languages.

Also, it helps to think in the language too. "Yo necessito comprar al libro." or something. Thinking in the language helps your brain wrap itself around the words and your comprehension increases.

use it regularly while talking (or trying to talk) to your friends so you familiarize yourself it, even if they don't understand you. I take spanish but it's not that hard, but there is alot of memorization.
