While grades do matter, what matters most is that you strive for them. A successful person isn't just great numbers on paper, but a real person that works hard and stays ahead of the game. I get good grades because I can see my future and I know exactly what I want (to be a doctor) What your mother said hurt........I know. Sometimes my mother and I have some nasty fights, but your mother loves you. She wants whats best for you. Just remember, keep trying and keep your head up.

My parents tell me that the important thing is that I try, I've actually been told that I'm to hard on myself.......so they are not the ones applying the pressure.

Good Luck on your next report card, I know you'll be fine!

I got my grades back yesterday and I got avergae but it was sorta on the low side. I was afraid to tell my mom because I knew she wasn't going to be happy. I told her and she was upset and she said some really hurtful things to me like
I was worthless and I was better off not being born and that I was just a waste of time and stuff. I mean I can't help not being good on that subject or maybe I was nervous but when parents say that, it hurts
supprisingly... grades are not important after you've gotten into all schools you want to get into ;-) So if you're in HS and you got into college... and in college and you got into your law school, grad school, med school or wherever.. you're all set.

After you decide to be done with school and go into the career world... they dont care. i have been to many interviews and when you start gloating about your experience they get pissy... because all you know is what every other graduate knows... and thats about school. Experience is key to any good career... that and networking. I'd say start doing internships as soon as you can! as long as you graduate you are good to go*

That is the best advice anyone has given here yet It is so true, and you will realise when you leave college, grades mean very very very little.

They're a good way for official graduate programs to short list people, but at the end of the day, when you go for an interview, grades are nothing next to good practical experience.

My own example is it. There are so many australian grads in the IT industry at the moment bitching that they can't get a job. It took me one month to find a full time job - and that could have been shorter if I had not been lazy and gone on holidays. :lol:

I went really badly in uni. I graduated with a pass average (woo me .. that's 50-75% average ...), but in my second year of uni I started doing volunteer work in IT companies. I started getting practical experience in all fields, because at the end of the day, most people/companies don't want to hire you if you only have knowledge that comes from books. They want you with one to two years of experience minimum.

So I'm not saying you don't have to go well, just remember that good grades can only get you so far.

I just finished middle school and never really tried. But i did have a 3.0 so i guess thats ok. But in High school i do intend to give 100%. In my opinion grades dont matter that unless your in high school or college, but i think you should get atleast a 2.0 so you can atleast get to high school. As long as your getting by with the grades that you have its ok...until you get to high school.

Since the school year is over and grades are being sent out, I'm wondering if you are worried about your grades and what your parents would think of them.

Some people think "C" is average... but when I get a "C" i think its the end of the world. So how do u feel about your grades?

Here's a few quotes for you to ponder.

"It's not rape... it's surprise sex!"

"It's not the shape of the hump, but the motion of the camel"

Well...to me, C is average. I think that my grades could be improved...but oh well, I'm not perfect. I'm just myself. Also, why is this in the GIRLS SECTION? Hmm...*contemplates moving it...but where to...*

next time i'll post something more relatable to girls.

Here's a few quotes for you to ponder.

It is no problem, really. I'm not sure if there would be a place to move it to anyways. Maybe you can just go back and change the topic...a bit, like tweak it and tailor it for women, then it should be alright

A=excellent
B=good
C=average
D=below average
F=failing

haha...I guess C is average.

I always felt in high school that "B" was average.

But having been through university now also .. I think that a high pass (about 60 - 65%) or low credit (65 - 70%) is a lot more "average".

I think a lot of it is relative to the teacher and the class. Some teachers mark easier than others, some classes have different scales and therefore results. Also, some students are in classes that go atrociously badly because they are lazy ... and the teachers may increase the scaling so it seems like you're going better than you really should be. And others may have a really bright class, so the scaling will be more difficult .. so it will seem like you're going badly when you're not.

It's all relative.
