Um, I'm not sure if this is a major problem or anything but I just wanted to know.
I'm going to a sophomore next year, and I'm somewhat worried since it would be 2 more years until I go to college. The problem is that I know that my parents care about me, but they wouldn't be able to help me pay for college. [sigh] So I have to get a scholarship. The only problem is that I don't know wear to look for them. Are there any scholarships online that are legit? I'm not even sure if thay have scholarship for writing, which is one of my passions. Can someone please give me advice/help me? ![]() [b]<--My <span style=\'color:red\'>Fanfictions! Want to exchange xanga links? Just PM me! |

Sweetie, just to let you know, the writing field has one of the biggest scholarship funds. I'm sure you'll be able to get at least one.
I'm actually impressed that you're looking for scholarships this early. I think this is the best idea because you can apply for a lot so by the time you graduate you have money in the bank. Scholarships provide money, but the "big" money comes from financial aid that the federal and state government gives. Visit FAFSA for more information. Your counselor/college information office has applications and other information regarding this, so you may want to check them out when school starts. Here's some legitimate scholarship websites you can visit: http://www.fastweb.com http://www.finaid.org http://www.collegeboard.org Avoiding Scholarship Scams</span> 1. "This scholarship is guaranteed or your money back." - First of all, there are no guarantees that you'll win a scholarship. - Secondly, you should NEVER give any organization money in exchange for a scholarship. However, some organizations require small fees for their scholarship applications. These are generally scholarships and grants with large award amounts, example $10,000 and more. 2. "You can't get this information anywhere else." - Of course you can. There is such a wealth of information available on the Internet you can find something on almost anything. 3. "With your credit card or bank account number we will hold this scholarship for you." - Scholarships are competitive. The only way to "hold" a scholarship is by WINNING it. 4. "This scholarship will cost some money." - Why should it cost money? Scholarships are for your benefit. The organizations that sponsor them are not out to rob you. 5. "You've been selected by a National Foundation to receive a scholarship. For a small handling fee we will send you a check." - Again, scholarships are competitive. They just won't come to you. If you receive an email or letter like this, beware. <span style=\'color:red\'>Reminder: There is no reason you should ever pay for scholarship information. ![]() + Confidence is a dangerous thing: too little and you are lost; too much and you are guilty of the other sins that grow from it. <span style=\'color:red\'>+ Man's richness is measured not by what he has but by how little he needs.
