I've been searching all over and the tutorials on that you can link to from photoshop cs are of no help to me.
I have a layer and I want to add an image to this layer, how do I do that? I want to lay the image over it... I can post the images if you need help understanding what I'm talking about. I guess I just don't understand how to blend photos in general... also if there is this topic somewhere, let me know, I can't seem to find any.

You mean blend it on top of each other & not side to side right?
Just paste one image onto of the other and change the blending mode.
