Description: This tutorial teaches a technique on how to create a signature using a render and default Adobe Photoshop tools.
You must be familiar with the tools.
1. Get a big render. I got mines at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Open it in Photoshop and copy and paste it into a new document at whatever sice you want your signature to be. I choose mines to be 500x200px. Since your render is big, it won't completely fit your document. That's alright since it's going to be your background. Move the render and position it to the part of it that you're going to use as a render image in the signature later on.
^ You will see that the area of the render that is on the canvas will be the area of the render that I will use as a render image.
2. Grab the selection tool and select the whole canvas [CTRL+A or Right Click >> Select All]. Right Click >> Free Transform. Now you can transform your image. Make it larger, distort it, whatever you want to make the image fill the whole thing.
3. Now duplicate the layer. Your layers palette should be like this:
Select the top layer. Go to Filter >> Blur >> Motion Blur.
Now use these settings:
Set the layer mode to Linear Burn, 50% Fill. Now select the first layer on the layers palette. Apply the Motion Blur again, but this time, put -45 for the angle.
4. Merge the layers [Layers >> Merge Visible or Shift+CTRL+E]. Sharpen it twice [Filter >> Sharpen >> Sharpen]. Now go to Filter >> Brush Strokes >> Spatter. Use these settings:
5. Select the brush tool . Select any soft brush and on the upper right hand side of your Photoshop window click the Brush tab. Now use these settings:
^ The diameter does not need to be 35px.
^ The pattern I used is in the default Adobe PS Rock Patterns set.
Now make a new layer. Set it to overlay. Start brushing with either black or white or both on the layer.
6. Merge Visible. Grab the Lasso Tool and set the Feather to 10px. Now select parts of the image you think seem bland in a constant direction.
Right Click >> Layer Via Copy. Now go to Filter >> Pixelate >> Mosaic. Set the Cell Size to 15. Sharpen it twice and set the Layer Fill to 50%.
7. Now go to the render you started with. Resize it to fit your document and copy and paste it on a new layer of what you have so far. Grab the Lasso Tool again (it should still have 10% feather) and make a rough outline of your render.
Now go to Layer >> Add Layer Mask >> Reveal Selection. This should blend your render in.
8. Make a new layer. Use the Lasso Tool and select emtpy spots.
Now fill [right click >> fill...] it with any pattern. Do not change the blending mode of the pattern, just the opacity.
9. Add text and use layer styles [Layer >> Layer Style] to make the text look nicer. Add a border if you want. Then, you're done!
