being able to extract images is really important when making a layout, banner, etc.

there are many techniques of doing this, but i prefer using the pen tool
first, find an image you want to extract
use mine if you want

now, select the pen tool

put in these settings

now, zoom in on your image. i usually zoom in 500% or so.
start making anchor points around the image you want to extract
dont make them too far apart, or else your extraction will look too rigid

right here, i am working on extracting her skirt ^

i usually extract the whole image at once, but you dont have to
once you are done, it should look like this: (yes! a lot of anchor points)

you can close the path if you want to, but you dont have to

now, right click, and select "Make Selection"

put in these settings:

now, it should look like this:

now, select inverse (Ctrl+Shift+I)
now, the outside of the picture should be selected

press delete

now, you should have this: (almost done!)

as you can see, there are some places i missed

using the pen tool, get rid of those too.

i got this:

congratulations on your first character extraction x)
you can add effects, etc to make it look lovely B)

this is what i got:

The edges look rough. If you look at it closely you can tell that you missed some anchor points & creates rouch edges. I was wondering if there is an easier way to do it. I know the extracting tool helps but that isn`t as smooth as this is, but this is way too complicated.

after you select it, you can go to selection >> modify >> smooth and smooth it by some pixels. If you miss some tiny pixels, go selection >> modify >> contract and contract by 1 or 2 pixels, then smooth. After that, select inverse and delete and it should be smooth
