after this tutorial, you should be able to make this:



now, start with a picture. i'll be using a picure of the lovely hyori lee

go on, and open it in photoshop.

do Ctrl-A (select all) and then Ctrl-C (copy)
you will need this for later

first, go to Image > Mode > Indexed Color...
put in the settings i have here:



now, your picture should look something like this:



Next, go to Image > Mode > RGB Color

now we're going to paste (Ctrl-V) the original image we copied earlier

now, select the top layer and set the style to Overlay



now, it should look like this again:


now, select the bottom layer again, and set the fill to 15%.



i usually do it 10%-20%, whichever looks better

now, your image should look just like mine
