Tutorial for: Adobe Photoshop (ImageReady) v.6 and up:
Tutorial by: xYunaxFantasiesX
Difficulty: 6/10

My first tutorial and it will be a long one so bare with me. If your not use to adobe ImageReady then this might take awhile for you to understand. So I wouldn't recomend this for beginners.

1.Open up your video in Adobe ImageReady it must be in .MOV format which is QuickTime . Now something should show up like this:

A.If you video is really short then select the first option: “From Beginning to End”
B.If Your video is long and you only want a part of the video than select the second option: “Selected Range Only”. Then go over to the video screen hold down shift and move the arrow from the beginning of the part you want to the end.

Now select the “Limit to Every [2] Frames” That will speed up your video and you will have less frames to deal with. Then click OK.

2.Resize you video so it won’t be so big go up to Image-> Image Size. I usually resize it by percent so everything wouldn’t look messed up I prefer 60-80 percent.

3. Now lock up all your layers by clicking on the second little box in your layer palette located in the bottom right hand corner. Something like this:

4. Now go to Image at the top and click on canvas size. Put in the Width and Height of the banner or avatar that you will insert the movie into. I’m doing a banner so for me it will be 500x200 click Ok and now you should have something like this:

5. So now you have to make a background to fill the left up space out the video. Go to your Adobe Photoshop make a background make sure it is the same size as you did for the canvas size. Mine will be 500x200.

6. After you finish making the background select you background and copy merged. Go to ImageReady. Select Layer 1 in the layer palette located at the bottom right hand corner. Layer 1 is also the lastest layer if you scroll all the way down.

7. Now paste your bg. It is very important that you are on layer 1. Now your bg covers up your video something like this:

8.Go to you layer palette select layer 1 and move it above your background layer. So now your video is on top of your background. You should get this:

9. Now position your video by using the move tool (See below)

10. (Optional) If you want to add a border around your video then click on your video layer : select all : and copy. Go to file new click ok. Now go up to Layer-> New->Layer from Background. On your layer palette right-click on the layer->Layer Style->Stroke->OK. Select All : Edit-> Copy Merged.
Now back to your animation file on the layer palette click on the top top layer the on ethat is ALL the way on the top. Now paste. Take the Move tool and move it to where your video is at. Take the Magic Eraser and erase the white color that is on top of your video. Very important that you were on the TOP layer when you did this.

Now your almost finish go to your Optimize palette and in the Color Table select “Perceptual” for Reduction. This will make sure that you banner will not the reduce of quality. Then go to File->Save Optimize As and rename your file and save. Now your finish!

This was what I got! Used a video from QuickTime. ^_^

To get a better view of "movie" heres an sig I made for someone.
